The ABBA will present Texas AgriLife Extension Livestock Specialist Dr. Joe C. Paschal with the Brahman Friend of the Year award during the ABBA Membership Meeting on Wednesday, February 27.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Paschal is the only person in the history of the award to receive the honor twice, receiving it the first time in 2003. <\/span>\u201cDr. Paschal was chosen for this award for the second time because of his ongoing commitment to the American Brahman breed,\u201d ABBA Executive Vice President Ashley Hughes said. \u201cOur association wouldn\u2019t be the same without his support.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

Paschal is a member of the animal breeding and genetics section in the Department of Animal Science and of the graduate faculty at Texas A&M University. He is also an external professor at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. He earned his bachelor\u2019s (1977) and master\u2019s (1982) degrees in animal science and doctorate in animal breeding (1986) from Texas A&M University.<\/p>\n

In addition to be an educator, Paschal is an ABBA- sanctioned judge. He has travelled the globe in both capacities representing the American Brahman breed for many years.<\/p>\n

\u201cDr. Paschal is a great speaker,\u201d ABBA Recording Secretary Armelinda Ibarra said. \u201cWhether presenting a seminar or conducting an educational workshop, he has a knack for reading his audience and relating the message to them. He is so passionate about what he is doing and the Brahman breed. He has helped us immensely.\u201d<\/p>\n

Paschal has also assisted the ABBA with their various performance programs and has been responsible for collecting and compiling the data for the Carcass Merit Program.<\/p>\n
