Jos\u00e9 Miguel Bosch L\u00f3pez de Llergo from Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico is the 2020 ABBA International Friend of the Year. This award will be presented to Miguel at the ABBA meetings during the ABBA International Brahman show. Miguel is no stranger to the ABBA International show as he has been attending this special Brahman event since 1970. Brahman breeders from around the globe will recognize his name and brand as he has one of the oldest and most recognized Brahman herd in Tabasco, MX.<\/p>\n

Born in 1933, Miguel grew up in Villahermosa and then went to the University of M\u00e9xico, where he graduated with a degree in architecture. After he earned his degree, he returned to Villahermosa, where he raised his family and ran his businesses. In 1965, he took over the management of his family\u2019s ranch, Rancho El Coco. His father, Miguel Bosch Ense\u00f1at, had been directing the ranch up until that time, and the ranch was well known for their cattle that carried the MB brand.<\/p>\n
The Asociaci\u00f3n Mexicana De Criadores de Ceb\u00fa (AMCC) currently has members with membership numbers in the high 1600s. As evidenced by their membership number of #124 the Bosch family has been a member in the AMCC for many years and could be considered one of their \u201cfounding families\u201d.<\/p>\n
Under Jos\u00e9 Miguel\u2019s guidance there were two different importations of US Brahman genetics into the herd at Rancho El Coco. In 1972 there was an importation of Brahman bulls from A. Duda and Sons, U.S. Sugar and Partin. These bulls were flown from Miami to Mexico where they soon made a positive impact on the Rancho El Coco cattle. The second importation occurred in 1978 when more bulls were flown from Miami. The second importation included bulls from W. H. Stuart \/ J.K. Stuart, A. Duda and Sons and U.S. Sugar.<\/p>\n
While Miguel has always loved his Brahman cattle, he also has been dedicated in giving back to the community. He has served on a number of committees and held a variety of leadership positions in the livestock community. To name a few of his contributions to the Brahman world he was the president of the AMCC Tabasco delegation from 1975 to 1976, organizer of the National Exhibition of Cebu in Villahermosa, Tabasco in 1975, was a member of the board of directors of the AMCC from 1984 to 1987 and in 1994 he was an official delegate of the AMCC at the VII Brahman World Congress.<\/p>\n

While Miguel has participated in virtually all the National and International events in Mexico, he has also made countless visits to the Houston fair as a member of the American Brahman Breeders Association (ABBA). His first Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo trip was in 1970 where he met and became friends with Don Jobes, long time Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Assistant General Manager.<\/p>\n
During many of those trips to the HLSR he mentored and brought young Brahman breeders from Mexico to Houston and would help them navigate the event. If a young Mexican Brahman breeder had a question about how to import cattle from the USA, desired introductions to American breeders or just wanted a friend to travel with to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, then Miguel was the breeder to help.<\/p>\n
\u201cI remember it was my first Houston Livestock Show in the early 70s and I was pleased that Miguel invited me to travel with him to the event,\u201d recalls Alberto Banuet, a current ABBA International Director. \u201cMiguel would go to Houston every year and has always been ready to help his fellow Brahman breeders. He is someone that many breeders look up to. I am so pleased that the ABBA is honoring him as the 2019 International Friend. He is a kind, decent man, and it has been an honor to know Miguel and his family for all these years.\u201d<\/p>\n
Miguel is still active and participates in National and International Fairs in Mexico. One of his great loves is being with his wife Do\u00f1a Silvia Hern\u00e1ndez de Bosch, their children, grandchildren and, of course, the livestock.<\/p>\n

Este premio se entregar\u00e1 a Miguel en las reuniones de la ABBA durante su show International de Brahman. Miguel no es ajeno al show internacional de la ABBA, ya que ha asistido a este evento especial de Brahman desde 1970. Nacido en 1933, Miguel creci\u00f3 en Villahermosa y luego fue a la Universidad de M\u00e9xico, donde se gradu\u00f3 en arquitectura. Si bien Miguel siempre ha amado su ganado Brahman, tambi\u00e9n se ha dedicado a retribuir a la comunidad. Ha servido en varios comit\u00e9s y ha ocupado diversos puestos de liderazgo en la comunidad ganadera. Por nombrar algunas de sus contribuciones al mundo Brahman, fue presidente de la delegaci\u00f3n de AMCC Tabasco de 1975 a 1976, organizador de la Exposici\u00f3n Nacional de Ceb\u00fa en Villahermosa, Tabasco en 1975, fue miembro de la mesa directiva de la AMCC de 1984 a 1987 y en 1994 fue delegado oficial de la AMCC en el VII Congreso Mundial de Brahman.<\/p>\n

Si bien Miguel ha participado en pr\u00e1cticamente todos los eventos nacionales e internacionales en M\u00e9xico, tambi\u00e9n ha realizado innumerables visitas a la feria de Houston como miembro de la American Brahman Breeders Association (Asociaci\u00f3n Americana de Criadores Brahman, ABBA por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s). Su primer viaje a Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo fue en 1970, donde conoci\u00f3 y se hizo amigo de Don Jobes, asistente general administrativo veterano del Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.<\/p>\n
Durante muchos de esos viajes al HLSR fue mentor y trajo j\u00f3venes criadores de Brahman de M\u00e9xico a Houston y los ayud\u00f3 a guiarse en el evento. Si un joven criador mexicano de Brahman ten\u00eda una pregunta sobre c\u00f3mo importar ganado de los EE. UU., deseaba presentarse a los criadores estadounidenses o simplemente quer\u00eda a un amigo que viajara al Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, entonces Miguel era el criador indicado.<\/p>\n
\u201cRecuerdo que fue mi primer Houston Livestock Show a principios de los a\u00f1os 70 y me complaci\u00f3 que Miguel me invitara a viajar con \u00e9l al evento,\u201d recuerda Alberto Banuet, actual Director Internacional de la ABBA. \u201cMiguel ir\u00eda a Houston todos los a\u00f1os y siempre en disposici\u00f3n para ayudar a sus compa\u00f1eros criadores de Brahman. Es alguien a quien muchos criadores admiran. Estoy muy contento de que la ABBA lo honre como el amigo internacional de 2019. Es un hombre amable y decente, y ha sido un honor conocer a Miguel y su familia durante todos estos a\u00f1os.\u201d<\/p>\n
