Top Breeders & Top Owner of ABBA Maternal Merit Females

The Maternal Merit Award identifies superior cows based on their performance and identifies females that have an early onset of puberty, a regular calving interval and consistently produce offspring that performs above average.

There are three levels of Maternal Merit awards; Elite, Supreme and Elite Plus. Th ere are a total of 634 gray and 43 red Maternal Merit females in the ABBA. Of those there are 36 gray Supreme, six red Supreme and only two Elite Plus females.

The two gray Elite Plus females were both bred and are owned by Steve Wilkins. One was sired by +SRW MR. FLYING W 592/8 and the other was sired by (=) SRW MR FLYING W 449/6. J.D. Hudgins, Inc. is the breeder who has bred the most gray Supreme females, having bred 15 gray Supreme females, while for the red females, Texas A&M AGRILIFE Research has bred and owns four of the six Supreme red females.

The bull who has sired the most gray Maternal Merit females is (+)JDH MR. CHARLEY MANSO 590/6 having sired 14 Maternal Merit females while on the red Brahman list MR. TAES 9049 sired three of the 43 Maternal Merit females.

There are 25 gray females and one red female who have each produced two Maternal Merit females and only one gray female, JDH LADY PR ATER MANSO 429/5, who has produced three Maternal Merit females. The lists below contain the Brahman breeders who have bred the most Maternal Merit Award-winning females and the owners with the most Maternal Merit Award-winning females.

We have divided the list into gray Brahmans and red Brahmans. These numbers include the Vanguard females also, as a Vanguard Cow will have received recognition for both ROR and Maternal Merit.

 


 

El Premio al Mérito Materno identifica a las vacas superiores en función de su desempeño e identifi ca a las hembras que tienen un inicio temprano de la pubertad, un intervalo regular entre partos y que producen crías que se desempeñan de manera constante por encima del promedio.
