ABBA News

As I pen this month’s column, I think about all the positives in the Brahman breed and we have to also be mindful of all that is happening in our great country and how it is affecting so many.

To start I want to say what an honor and privilege it was to attend and participate in the 2020 International Brahman Show in Houston as your Executive Vice President. I had the opportunity to see and visit with many friends of the Brahman Breed and meet so many of our International guests.

One of my highlights of the week was when I had the opportunity to visit with three former EVP’s of the ABBA. I am a true believer that history will repeat its self and it was great getting to visit about the history from the eyes of the EVP. I was honored to be part of the 2020 International Show dedication to Mr. Wendell Schronk a former EVP. Mr. Schronk is a true gentleman, and was honored for his many years of passion and dedication to the ABBA and the Brahman Breed.

I want to congratulate all the honorees of the special awards during the annual meeting and to those exhibitors that showed during the 2020 International Brahman Show.

Before leaving the great week, we had in Houston, I want to mention the great ABBA International sale. My thanks go to the ladies in the office for their hard work and dedication, and to Clayton Bridges, Derrick Smith and Leo Casa for their dedication to make the sale a success.

I am extremely excited that the ABBA EAR program will kick off with steers entering the feedlot and our ABBA Bull Development program will also start soon. Both of these programs are successful due to the ABBA members that participate, University Professors and Texana Feeders Ltd. our 2020 ABBA Brahman Friend of the Year.

As I conclude this column, I want you to know we have had to make some hard decisions when it comes to the impact of COVID 19. There have been shows and sales cancelled and postponed, our decisions have always been made with the health and safety of our members and the public in mind. Cattlemen are resilient people and we will survive COVID 19 and will be stronger because of it. Please practice social distancing, wash your hands, and if you feel sick please stay home.

Till next month,

Joe Mask
