From the Desk of the ABBA Executive Vicepresident

As I write this month’s edition of “From the Desk of the EVP,” I am pleased to share some of the great things that have been happening in the Brahman breed and the ABBA. I have just returned from videoing and picturing a fantastic set of bulls for the Annual ABBA Performance Tested Bull Sale. This is a stout set of 22 purebred bulls that will sell on CattleInMotion.com December 9-10 2020. Thank you to all of the producers who contributed to the Bull Test and congratulations to those who made the sale.

We have just completed a great National Brahman Show and Board of Director Meetings in Shreveport, LA. First of all, I would like to express a sincere thank you to the State Fair of Louisiana for hosting such an excellent event. It was great to get to be able to gather and advocate for the Brahman breed in a way that was both safe and followed CDC safety guidelines. Congratulations to all of our exhibitors!

I know there has been a lot of questions regarding the cancellations of Spring Open Shows, and I am pleased to announce that due to our proactiveness since the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic we have some great alternatives lined up for our members and exhibitors.

We will be hosting two point shows in Belton, TX January 5-10, 2021. More information regarding this unique event will be available in the coming weeks. The ABBA is excited to be joining the Inaugural Cattlemen’s Congress in Oklahoma City. We will be having a sanctioned open show on January 15, 2021. And finally, we will be hosting “The International” in Waco, TX March 23-30, 2021 as an alternative to the annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. More information will be announced as it becomes available and we would like to extend an invitation to all of our members and friends to attend as many of these events as possible.

Since the beginning of the year, we have been actively working on developing a new registry system to be utilized by the ABBA. I am pleased to announce that we will be launching our new system through Digital Beef out to the membership in Early December. Thank you to all of our members who assisted with BETA Testing the new system in hopes to trouble shoot any major issues. Although we do not foresee any major complications, please remember that it is technology and issues may arise, but we will be able to assist in any way possible.

As I have written before, we have begun the transition to the new office in Bryan/ College Station, TX and we will officially be there full time as of December 21, 2020. As of December 18th, the office in Houston with officially be shut down and all work and staff will be housed in Bryan/ College Station.

As I close this month’s correspondence, I want to take a moment to share how thankful I am to have served as your EVP for the past year. I truly believe that ABBA has done so much over the past 12 months, but this is just the beginning.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year!!

See you down the road!
