The 2017 Deep South Brahman Association Sale was one for the books!
The sale took place on a sun-splashed beautiful day in Hattiesburg, Mississippi with a standing room only crowd of Brahman and Brahman-influenced breeders in the Southeast Mississippi Livestock Auction. Buyers from across the country were excited about this elite offering of cattle with lots of active bidders and animals selling to ten states.
The high selling lot was a pick of the Dyess Farms calf crop, which sold to 4N Cattle for $9,500. The second-high selling lot was consigned by South Florida Brahmans and sold to Asa Lee for $7,250. The third-high selling lot was RLB Mr 311, consigned by B&P Brahmans, which sold for $6,750 to Shane Haimes.
Haltered show heifer prospects average $4,808. Bred cows averaged $4,628 and pairs averaged $4,330 with a total average of $4,108 on 70 Brahman lots.
In the F1 part of the sale, open heifers averaged $1,758, breds averaged $1,961 and pairs averaged $2,139.
