From the desk of the ABBA Executive VP

As I write this edition from the desk of the EVP, we are in the midst of the busy season here at the American Brahman Breeders Association. Between shows, sales and multiple other special events- there are multiple wheels turning here in the office! As I have stated many times over the past 25 months as your EVP, we have one of the best staff s that keep all the wheels turning.

This month, the ABBA will be hosting and managing the 2022 National F1 Sale on February 26th at the Columbus Livestock Co. in Columbus, TX. We will be offering an elite set of cattle that come with the backing of some of the breed’s most trusted breeders. This year’s sale is dedicated to Mr. Terry Novak of Angleton, TX and we are thankful to be able to honor a cattleman who has given so much to this great breed, association and F1 Female Program. I would also like to thank the committee members that have helped in the coordination of this event: OW Schneider, Kevin Elstner, Derrick Smith, Clayton Bridges, Terry Novak and Sam Sparks. Their assistance and dedication to this program is greatly appreciated. We invite each of you to make plans to attend as this promises to be a great event.

We are excited to be headed back to Houston for the 2022 International Brahman Show held with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, February 28- March 4th! We invite all of our friends both internationally and here in the states to visit us in Houston, TX and take part in the Super Bowl of Brahman Shows! For more information, visit brahman.org.

Within the association, there are many things happening in committees and I want to applaud all of the hard-working men and women who devote and volunteer their time to assist in the improvement of this great breed and association.

As I close this column in the Polled Edition of The Brahman Journal, I want to remind Polled Breeders if you have an animal tested at either of the labs, we use please make sure we get a copy of the results. Those animals that are heterozygous polled will have a (P) inserted behind their registered name, those that are homozygous polled will be indicated by (PP) behind their registered name. I encourage each of our breeders to gain as much information about your cattle to help in marketing.
