46th Annual Carolinas Brahman Breeders Association Sale

The 46th Annual Carolinas Brahman Breeders Association Sale was held Saturday, June 6, at Laurens Livestock in Laurens, South Carolina.

More than 50 lots of quality Brahman and Brahman-influenced cattle sold, including show prospects, cow-calf pairs, bred heifers, herd sire prospects and some very fancy F1 females.

The sale was managed by Philip Gilstrap and Asa Lee and was broadcast live on BestCattleSales.com.

“A fantastic crowd of Brahman enthusiasts from across the region was in attendance,” Bruce Van Meter of Pinnacle Brahmans said. “Demand for Brahman and Brahman-influenced genetics continues to be strong!”

The elite registered Brahman cattle offering attracted bidders from across the country, with cattle selling to Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Missouri.

Averages were as follows: overall, $5,467.50; haltered heifers, $5,150; pairs, $6,562.50; bulls, $5,187.50; bred heifers, $5,125; and open heifers, $5,312.50.

The F1 lot averages were as follows: overall, $4,118.49; F1 bred heifers, $4,241.66; F1 pairs, $4,433.33; and F1 open heifers, $3,680.50.

Brahman Bucks for the top F1 lots were awarded at the event by the American Brahman Breeders Association. First- and second-place honors went to Danny Bigford of North Carolina. Third-place honors went to Chris Powell of South Carolina.

“I was happy to be at the oldest registered Brahman and F1 sale in the U.S. to award the Brahman Bucks program awards to the first-, second- and third-place pens of F1 cattle,” ABBA Director and Marketing Committee representative Mike West said. “Congratulations to all the cattle placing and to all who attended this great sale.”

Make plans to attend next year’s event. The 47th Annual CBBA Sale will be held Saturday, June 5, 2027, at Laurens Livestock, with pre-sale festivities on June 4.
