On March 8, STgenetics and HK Cattle held their eighth annual Spring Production Sale online at Best Cattle Sales in conjunction with an open house event at the Genetic Development Center in Navasota, Texas.
The sale offered 14 Red Brahmans and 11 Gray Brahmans, as well as semen lots. All lots were backed by DNA and extensive performance data.
Red lots (13 heifers and one bull) grossed $167,000, averaging $11,928.57 per lot. Eleven gray female lots grossed $107,250, averaging $9,750 per lot.

The overall high-selling lot was Lot 1, MISS J&M MELINDA 717/4, which sold for $22,000. This open, dark-pigmented Gray Brahman female was sired by MR J&M DOUGLAS 925/6, a MR. H BOGOTA MANSO 253/1 son, and out of the proven SRS MISS CINNAMON 150/9 donor cow, a BRC Noble daughter.
The second high-selling lot was Lot 14, HK MS. VOLUNTEER AMERICA 4
38/4. Th e cherry-red HK VIS BRASIL 275 daughter, out of a +MR. SG 111/1-sired cow, sold for $19,500. Th e high-selling semen lot was a conventional straw from +TJF MR. SMOKIN GUN 109/7, which sold for $15,000.
The high-volume buyer was Carlos Tamayo and partners, purchasing six lots totaling $57,750.
