Excitement is in the air as the All American National Show draws near! Hello, I am Madison Pleasant and I am serving as a AJBA Director representing the state of Louisiana. It is a privilege to serve in this capacity and as LJBA President this year. I began showing cattle at the age of 9 years old and I’ll never forget being introduced to the Brahman Association.
In addition to exhibiting cattle, the skills gained through participation in leadership contests have allowed me to seize numerous opportunities. Through these experiences I have gained work ethic, responsibility, lifelong friendships, independence, self-confidence and public speaking skills to name a few that have afforded me opportunities to promote our industry to other youth. This past summer I was able to be an advocate for the beef industry and teach our peers about current agricultural trends speaking to 400+ girls at LA Girls State as I sought the office of Commissioner of Agriculture. The education, skills and friendships gained from our organization are invaluable and have helped mold me into the person I am today.
As my senior year comes to an end, I look forward to beginning a new chapter this Fall at Northwestern State University where I will be pursuing a degree in Biology. I challenge you to step out of your comfort zone as you make plans to attend the summer show by signing up for an addition al event or applying to attend the Foundation Summer Leadership Camp, I guarantee you’ll have a great experience and make new friends.
Best of luck at your upcoming shows!
Madison
