MAY 25, 1972 AUGUST 4, 2025
Jason Neely Barnett, age 53, passed away at his home early Monday morning, August 4, 2025. He fought the good fight, having battled health issues for many years. Jason was born on May 25, 1972, to the late L. Jones Barnett and Eleanor Neely Barnett in Batesville, MS.
He worked as a truck driver for most of his career, but his true passion in life was working with and showing cattle. Jason loved to trace the genetics of different breeds of cattle and was very knowledgeable about the Brahman and Gelbvieh cattle breeds in particular. He had a true passion for improving herd quality.
Jason was a member of Enon Baptist Church and was most recently attending Hebron Baptist Church near his home in Sardis. He was a strong believer and served the Lord faithfully. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved sister, Gaeba Barnett Gray; and his aunt, Ruth Neely Foster. Among his friends and family who remain with us who will miss him dearly include his cousins, Jamie Barnett (Donna) and Misty Leach (John Michael); his nephew, Jeremy Magness; his great niece, Maelee Magness; his uncle, Jimmy Barnett (Agnes); and his special friend, Ellen Buell. He wrote under the name Bobby Joe Rodgers on Facebook about Brahman history.
