Brushy Creek Custom Sires of Taylor, Texas will receive the 2020 ABBA Sponsor of the Year award during the General Membership Meeting in Houston, Texas.
Brushy Creek Custom Sires opened its doors in the fall of 1977. The ten pens that were built immediately filled with bulls belonging to breeders who encouraged owners Emzy and Ava Barker to do their semen collection. Those Brahman breeders, who are still active today, continue to bring their top bulls to Brushy Creek Custom Sires.
Brushy Creek began exporting semen internationally in 1978 and remains one of the top facilities in the export of custom collected bovine genetics in the Southern Hemisphere. International breeders regularly visit the facility to see the bulls currently housed at Brushy Creek. While there are a number of different breeds of cattle collected at Brushy Creek, their main customer base is Brahman.
Ava was pleasantly surprised to hear ABBA would be recognizing Brushy Creek Custom Sires as the Sponsor of the Year. Being recognized by the ABBA means a lot to Ava as she has always felt that sponsorships are a way to give back to a community that has done so much for her and her company.
